Creative Cloud File Q

I cannot find a community to post this on that is specific to Creative Cloud, so I am asking y'all.  I am trying to get all my files out of Creative Cloud and into my iCloud due to Adobe stopping their syncing features etc for CCloud. I cannot figure out how to do this. I can only create a new file but cannot seem to export anything. Does anyone have instructions on how to do this?

Hi @Cheri0D4C,

Thanks for reaching out. To download your files from Adobe Creative Cloud, follow any of these steps:

DESKTOP:

If you are a desktop user, ensure your file-syncing is enabled.

  • Open the Creative Cloud desktop app by selecting the icon in your Windows taskbar or the macOS menu bar.

  • Select the Cloud activity icon in the upper right corner, which will indicate the status of your sync.

  • If your sync is paused, select the play icon to resume syncing.

With syncing enabled, all your synced content will exist on your local device in the following folder destinations:

Windows

C:\Users\<Username>\Creative Cloud Files

macOS

Mac HD/Users/<Username>/Creative Cloud Files

You can make a copy or export these files to your chosen destination. These files will remain in your local folder and will remain in your control at all times. Beginning February 1, 2024, the folder will be renamed to Creative Cloud Files + <account type> + <profile_name> + <email> + <GUID> (for example: Creative Cloud Files Personal Account email@abc.com ####@AdobeID). You can rename the folder as you see fit.

MOBILE

  • Navigate to the subfolder containing the files you wish to download.

  • To download files, select the 3 dots on the bottom right of each file and select download.

Repeat these steps for each file you want to download. If you have multiple files, you may need to download them one by one.

Once you have downloaded your files, you can then upload them to iCloud or any other storage service you prefer.

Let me know if you have any more questions or if there's anything else I can help you with!

Best,

Anshul Saini

Thanks for the info.  Too bad they do not just have an "Export" button for single or multiple file selections. You would think in 2023 this would be possible.

It is not that hard, you may have misread the directions. The Export step that the Adobe rep mentioned is only for the mobile app. Notice that for a desktop like a Mac computer, the steps given are simple and easy. If you don’t get it, keep reading.

Adobe is discontinuing only one of a long list of different Adobe cloud sync services: What they call “Creative Cloud synced files”. No other sync services are affected. This one specific service that will be discontinued, Creative Cloud Files, is the one that syncs files with the file systems on macOS and Windows computers, similar to how Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or Apple iCloud work. You may already know that if syncing is enabled on your computer for any of those services, the cloud files are probably already synced down to your computer! That is true for Creative Cloud Files as well, so keeping your own copy is extremely easy and fast:

1. In your user account, open the Creative Cloud Files folder (see the picture below). By default, it is at the path Anshul listed.

2. Drag all your files and folders out of there, to any other folder or volume that is outside of the Creative Cloud Files folder. Just select them all and do it in one simple drag and drop to another folder on the computer, a folder on iCloud Drive, a USB stick, external hard drive or wherever.

One drag and drop is all it takes.

Other Adobe sync services are not so easy, maybe you were thinking about those. For example, Photoshop Cloud Documents (which are a totally different thing) exist only in the cloud, and there is no way to bulk download those, which is a real problem. But Cloud Documents are not being discontinued, Creative Cloud Files are.
