Crop photo in AI CC: undo? [2017]

A very handy function in AI has been added.

The option to crop a photo in AI.

However, I wanted to reverse such an edit today and I couldn't.

Is it impossible or am I missing something?

You can undo the crop just like you can undo everything else in Illustrator.

But if you mean that you want crop in a non destructive way, so that you can change it after saving the document, you should use Mask.

Thanks for the answer, but even I found ctrl-Z.
I was wondering if the new function is non-destructive but it seems it isn't.

No the non destructive one has been there for ages, the Mask funtion.

This one was designed to get rid of the portions you don't need to get smaller files.

But I can imagine a smart crop that embeds the cropped part, but still retains a link to the original image.

Maybe it's time for a feature request.

[Abuse Removed by Moderator] Is it so hard to make non-destructive crop for raster images instead of creating masks EVERY TIME?

There's very little difference in the interface between placing an image and clicking the Mask button, and placing an image and clicking the Crop button. What is causing you issues?
