Hello everyone!
This might sound a little odd, maybe. Anyways my cat, as they do, decided to walk over my computer while I was working in Illustrator. I honestly don“t know what keys she decided to walk on but the end result was that my CTRL key somehow stopped working completely. Everytime I click it my Illustrator just shows me ““Direct Selection““ but I can“t use it in any usefule way. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+S, etc do not work at all. I“ve tried to check it with my Windows Keyboard viewer/preview, to see if the keys were working properly, it shows that they are working correctly. So I honestly do not know what is wrong. I also tried changing the Adobe Keyboad Shortcuts to see if there the Ctrl responded and it doesnt. Whenever I click it, it shows it as blank.
Does anyone know what I can do??
I“d appreciate any help as my workflow is kind of ruined now.
Thanks guys!

Once my cat starts working on my computer and breaks somthing I always make them fix it.
Did you try another keyboard just to rule this hardware out?
Try this too: On your keyboard, locate and press the ALT+ ctrl + fn keys. This should repair the problem.
If this doesn't work, double-check that the keys themselves aren't clogged with dust or cat hair by cleaning out your keyboard with a specialised keyboard cleaner.
