Is there a way to cut a curved segment to a specific length? I mean a segment made with the arc tool. If this curved segment is for example 20cm long and I want to make a cut at 9,85cm on that length, how could I do it?

Thank you all.

That will get difficult.

The plugin VectorScribe has a measure tool which can do live measuring (you drag it along the path and it tells you the length at that point). But the plugin is not free.

Thank you Monika.

I have also found the Segment Tools plugin from Baby Universe, which has just the tool I need, but you also have to pay an annual subscription.

I wish I could find some free tool for what I need.

Cristina,

Depending on the required degree of accuracy, you can try this, Smart Guides being your friends:

1) Select a copy of your 20 cm path and tick Dashed Line in the Stroke palette and set the Dash to 9,85 cm (you can ensure cm by adding cm after the 9,85), or use . decimal stop instead of , if needed;

2) Zoom all the way in (64000%) on the end of the first Dash and Click it with the Scissors Tool (Smart Guides say path when you are within snapping distance of the path, but you need to mouse in on the end of the Dash by eye) then delete the unwanted part;

3) Select the Dashed art and see whether the length is accurate enough, and untick Dashed Line if it is.
