Cutting a zigzag line

New Here ,
Mar 14, 2018 Mar 14, 2018

Hello everyone!

Can someone help me please?

I need to cut the waves on the left side on the orange circle and on the right side on the red circle and the waves need to stay symmetrical.

I tried to put anchorpoints where the lines and the circle cross, but when I delete the outer anchor points, the waves change and it's not symmetrical anymore.

When I tried it with the pathfinder the waves just disappear.

Thank you in advance!

The waves are created with the zigzag-effect?

You need to first do Object > Expand appearance

Then use the pathfinder functions, live paint or the shapebuilder tool

Hey

Follow Monika's advice, and expand the appearance of those strokes, then additionally ouytline the strokes (Object > Path > Outline Stroke). You could then use the Pathfinder or the Shape Builder Tool to get the result you're after.
