Hello

I just want to know how to cut the shape, below is the shape that I want to cut from center with another shape, for example a square on top of this shape and using pathfinder tool (minus front) but its not working, any idea how I can achieve this would be helpful

Regards

Duplicate the rainbow shape on to its own layer and turn off all other layers. Make sure the rainbow shape that you've shown above has no effects or drop shadows applied. Select all and make sure to set everything to no fill. Create a compount path.

Next, draw the shape you want to cut out from the middle of the compound path shape. Make sure this new shape is on top and select both shapes. Now perform a pathfinder minus front.

Now, you can unmask the rainbow fill from the original shape's layer, group it if it isn't grouped, then copy it. Turn on the layer where you made your pathfinder shape, and paste the rainbow fill on top. Select all and use pathfinder crop. Now add a drop shadow effect.

Please show a screenshot of this in the layers panel.

The easiest method would be to use a clipping mask.

But it doesn't cut, it just hides elements.

The pathfinder tool is probably the best way to go.  However, make sure you have the layer order correct when using it.
