Question

CYMK to RGB

Hi,

I worked on some vector graphics in Illustrator using a CMYK file. The graphics were intended for print, so I chose CMYK. However, I’ve been notified that they also need the graphics for screen. If I change the color settings in Illustrator, will it automatically convert everything to RGB, or do I need to manually adjust something?

Thank you very much.

What you need to do is duplicate the file.

Then File > Document Color Mode > RGB

Then take a look if the colors match what you expect. Color management should do it, but sometimes the result doesn't look nice.

What you might want to change, is black. It won't be 000

@Monika Gause Thank you! One thing I was wondering: Does it make a big difference if I just leave it as CMYK?

ANd then just export is as PNG, SVG etc?

If the exported file is technically an RGB file, then the files will work. Whether or not the colors will work, the client will probably tell you. Like: "the black is not black"
