Dashed Line Printing Incorrectly From Illustrator

Community Beginner ,
Jul 21, 2019 Jul 21, 2019

Hello  and Thanks In Advance for all that reply.

For some reason my dashed lines are printing as double dashed lines and it is not even happening on the entire document which is made up of multiple artboards. It is only when I make the dashed line a solid line that it prints as a single line. On the screen it is always a single line.

Please help,

Thank you,

Please post a screenshot with view >> overprint preview on in preview mode, and also view >> outline mode.

You may have an extra line, and not seeing if you have the default of overprint preview set to off.

Try object >> path >> outline stroke.

Impossible to know. You have not provided any info about your printer, print settings, system info and so on. Typically this happens with native PostScript/ PDF printers misinterpreting/ substituting parametric style definitions with their own, so start by checking any such options, should they exist. Anything beyond that will require much more info.

Please provide the version of Illustrator and the operating system you are using as well as providing a screen shot showing the actual issue. Also what kind of printer are you using?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you facing problems while printing a file with Dashed lines. I addition to the suggestions shared above I would request if you can share the following details:

  • OS and version of Illustrator
  • Is the issue related to a specific document(s)/asset(s)? If yes, could you please share the document(s)/asset(s) with us? You can upload it to the creative cloud and share the download link.
  • Few screenshots or pictures of the issue?

You can also check out the steps shared on this similar discussion: Illustrator exporting dashed line with a solid line behind it?

Regards,

Srishti

Thanks to everyone that has replied,

Sorry about the lack of screenshots , my laptop was freezing up on me.  To clarify I'm using AI cc, my printer is an HP Officejet 3830 and I am using Windows 10. IMG_3525.JPGIMG_3526.JPG

I wouldn't expect that printer to support PostScript.

Try and print the file using Acrobat.
