Deleting a control handle with Anchor Point Tool

I like the fact that you can eliminate a control handle on a closed shape by selecting the Anchor Pt. Tool and click the handle. Problem is... when you have the Pen Tool and you hold option to access the Convert Anchor Pt. Tool, it will not delete the handle.  Do you think it is just an overlook by Adobe or a bug?

Probably it's either on purpose or cannot work the way you want.
