I have an Illustrator document in which each letter of the text is on its own layer. I need to update the document, but I can't figure out how to edit the text. Is there a way to put these separate letters into one layer. I have attached a snip so you can see what I'm talking about.
I am not in Illustrator 2019 savvy. I can edit text, but I've never seen anything like this. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Let me move this to the Illustrator forum, where you are more likely to get an answer to your questions. I am also editing your post to change the selected tags/topics to ones that may be more suitable. Feel free to change them again if I selected the wrong ones, as I am also not Illustrator savvy!

Thank you for doing that. It did not give me an option to tag Illustator forum. I knew that was where I needed to be, but I couldn't get there.

Go to the top page (community.adobe.com) then click the Illustration filter. It's easy to find the Illustrator forum from there. All you have to do is click on it and you wind up here. :^)
I follow a number of forums and have found that creating a folder of bookmarks for them makes life far, far simpler.

That's not actully text. It's been converted to outlines. Each "letter" is now a compound path, so if it needs any edits, it will have to be reset.

How do I reset?

What SJRiegel means is that you need to retype the text by choosing a font from your Character panel. The letters your see are not editable text, they are actually shape objects.
