determine data points

I have scanned an old graph. Is there any way that I can trace this graph, then drop it into an Illustrator chart, then determine what each data point is for each year? My end product needs to be data rather a chart. Any help appreciated.

Usually, it depends on which version of Illustrator you are using, but in this case I'd claim it's just not possible, no matter what version of AI is being used.
