Direct Selection Tool won't remove Handle in Illustrator

Hi. I used to remove one handle from an anchor point with the Direct Selection Tool when dragging it back to the anchor but for some reason I can't do it now. Do you know how to fix it?

Hi @Vesi5ECB,

Sorry for the trouble, and thanks for sharing the details asked by @Mike_Gondek10189183 @Doug A Roberts.

I would recommend you update the Ai to v26.3.1. If that doesn't help, try resetting the preferences

(https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html) and let us know if that helps or not.
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings.

Kindly update the discussion if you still need assistance with it. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini

Are you seeing the handle, but cannot grab or move it? Does this happen on multiple files or just one particular  instance?

While in the pen tool you can temporarily switch to direct select holding down control on windows.

I see the handles, anchor points and can move them freely. I was able to delete one of the handles by grabbing it and dragging it back to the anchor point with the Direct Selection Tool. It bugs me that I can't do it anymore. I know I can use the Anchor Point Tool to do that but it takes longer.

It's like that with all the files.

Still works like that for me (Windows 10, AI 26.2.1)

Can you show exactly what kind of object you're working on and describe how you created it?

It worked fine yesterday. 😞

I'm working on shape I've created with the Pen Tool.
