Distort to create appearance of cylinder

Hi, I have a group of objects, which make a pattern I want to make them look as if they are wrapped around a cylinder.

The effect I want would be to reduce the width only of the objects, extremely at one end, and not at all at the other. I have tried Envelope distort without success, and also all the warp filters, but hee doesnt seem to be one for the effect I am after.

Any ideas?

    The FILTERiT plugins also have warp tools that could work.

    Make the object group into a Symbol and map it to a 3D rotated cylinder.

      Thanks! I dont actually want to wrap it to a cylinder, that was just the best way to describe the look I want to achieve!  I will have a look at those filterit tools. Thanks
