Do I need to use Pantone colors for CMYK Illustrations?

Hello.

Recently I have finished a commission for a client, and wants to use it for digital and printing purposes. To be more specific, he wants to print the illustration for T-Shirts and Caps.

One question I have however, is converting from RGB to CMYK enough to make the colors accurate for pritning? Or do I need to use CMYK Pantone colors in order to do so?

Because I'm concerned of how the commission is going to turn out on print, and want to make sure the colors I've used are accurate.

Pantone (spot) colours are extra or instead of CMYK. Extra inks, in a bucket, for a printing press. So, you use them if the client wants them and is prepared to pay. Otherwise, no. You get accurate colour by colour management. Be sure you are on top of that.

ssaad,

First: find out what the printer requires, if at all possible.

Second: Undoubtedly you mean Pantone spot colours which differ fundamentally from CMYK.

Third: If printed as CMYK, work in CMYK Color Mode from the very beginning, the document defined as such before any artwork is made.

Fourth: use colour management and choose the appropriate profile.

Fifth: the best of luck with everything.

Thank you so much for your help!

The client doesn't need any Pantone colors however. All he needs is for it to be printable, that's all.
