Drawings CAD

Hi I would like to do drawings (CAD) in illustrator. I would be great if the measerments came up automatically when I create a new object. Is this possible in Illustrator, perhaps with a plug-in?

You can see information in the info panel, and you can also see in smart guides asn @Monika Gause says. There is CAD Tools as a plugin, and a script that yo ucan buy https://www.marspremedia.com/software/illustrator/dimensions-illustrator
or this script https://www.o2creative.co.nz/Dimensions_PowerScript_Plugin_Extension_for_Adobe_Illustrator.php

With Creative Cloud you also have Access to Acrobat Pro where there is a measure tool, but that's if you want to save as a PDF and then add dimension anotations.

There is also a User Voice request that you can add your vote to:

Are you referring to visible measurements in the drawing? Or the measurements that appear when drawing a shape? THose appear when you turn on Smart Guides.

CADTools is an extensive (though not free) plugin for CAD drawing in Illustrator that includes dimensioning:
