Drop Shadow gets exported on the (left) side of the Artboard

Good Day,

I have a vector in Illustrator where the Drop Shadow sticks out of the top and left edge of the Artboard, which wouldn't be an issue, as we have the "Use Artboard" checkbox on Export. However, somehow only the upper edge gets trimmed. Therefore, I am always left with left part of the drop shadow sticking a bit outside of the artboard.

Besides that the drop shadow within the exported SVG is only cut off on the top, when viewed in e.g. Chrome. When importing it to PS, the left and top part of the drop shadow still sticks out of the artboard or in Photoshop's case, the whole now rasterized vector has a gap alongside the left and top edge of the canvas.

Is there some special trick regarding drop shadows to stay within the artboard?

Correct answer Monika Gause

Make a clipping mask.

Or - expand that shadow and crop it.
