Dynamic Brushes to allow full item randomisation

Hi,

I am looking to see if it is possible to create a scatter brush that contains at least two images where when you draw it the order of the items along the brush stroke aren't always in order.
Let us say that I have two items for the brush:  A and B.
I think scatter would be the way to go for this, but please correct if I am mistaken.
I want to be able to integrate these two images into a brush with slight variations in spacing and size (so I choose random and then adjust percentages). BUT I would also like to be able to randomise A and B.
So a line may look like A B B A A B A B B A B B, not just A B A B A B with variable spacing and sizes. I also want the items to stay close to the line and not scatter too widely.

I am not sure if it is possible but when I have tried it I can only get the latter effect.

I feel your pain. Best I've been able to do is put down all As, then use either the Random Swatches Fill script or Random Select script followed by a manual swatch fill of the selected parts.

I'm very happy with the Stippilism plugin for filling areas. As Monika said, it's not really for situations where you'd want a brush, but if you've got areas, it's definitely worth a look.

I'll try these options out just to see, but I was hoping to be able to share these brushes with others and expecting them to add other scripts would be too much. I may have to look into stamps or something. Thanks for the info though.

You can sort of do this with 2 strokes on one path and two scatter brushes applied to them.

Also it is possible in CorelDRAW

And then in Illustrator with plugins such as Stipplism (but not as a brush)

The issue with that is some may overlap too much and it wouldn't be as simple. I don't mind some overlaps but that way all overlaps would have one particular item on top all of the time unless I spaced them enough to be able to create four paths or something.
I think it would then be easier to use stamps.

It is odd that they haven't created this option. Oh well.
