Easy Drop Cap Method for Text (also changing color of letter)?

Is there an easy way to creaet a dropped capital in a text box?

Also, I would like to know how I would make that first letter a different color.

Great question! Creating a dropped capital in Illustrator is definitely possible. Here is a link to a YouTube tutorial: https://adobe.ly/3SLmRR2
To change the color of the first letter, select it, and now go to the Color panel (Window > Color). Change the fill color and choose the fill color you want for the first letter.

This method should give you a nice dropped capital effect with the ability to change the color of the first letter.
