When using the "Embed Images" option on a Link in Adobe Illustrator, the option is visible and can be clicked, but nothing happens.
The Mac is a MacBook Pro Apple M2 Max, running MacOS Sequoia 15.2
We have tried to rebuild the Mac and reinstall Illustrator.
Illustrator version 28.7.1
This works on other devices. There is no error message or anything it simply just does nothing.

After clicking Embed:
There is no dialog to confirm it failed/success. It does highlight blue (Embed Image(s)) Button.
It just remains exactly the same...
Same for other Illustrator files, and other links.

Is there a reason you are not using the latest version of Illustrator?

Not sure why the user isn't using the latest version, however following an update to the latest version available, it still has the same problem.

Hello @Stellar_Ray7938,
Thanks for sharing the details, and sorry to hear about your experience. I tried replicating this behavior on my end but could not. Would you mind checking if the file(s) are saved on a removable/external/network drive or a cloud-synced folder like Dropbox? If yes, try moving them to a local folder to check if it helps.
Also, try enabling Full Disk access for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/4fRC1gm) and then relaunch and share your observations.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I had a feeling it may be related to the files being stored on a NAS.
However, after moving them locally (Including the linked files) The problem remained.
I will double check the Full Disk access is enabled for Illustrator and respond.

Hello @Stellar_Ray7938,
Thanks for confirming. Would you mind installing Illustrator 29.1 (https://adobe.ly/4hr6K5l) and manually resetting Illustrator's preferences to check if it helps:
• Close all Adobe applications.
• Go to the following locations
• ~/Library/Caches
• ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
• ~/Library/Preferences
• Rename Adobe Illustrator, com.adobe.illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 29 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old, com.adobe.illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator 29 Settings.old
• Launch Illustrator from the Creative Cloud.
Note: Location starting with this "~" sign indicates the User Library, which is hidden. So, you need to copy & paste the exact path in spotlight search or from Finder Menu > Go > Go to Folder > Paste the location in the dialog box like this:
Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders, the location of which is mentioned above.
If the problem persists, kindly package the file, upload it to a file-sharing service, and share a link here so I can check it on my end.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
