emoji fonts not working in illustrator 2018

Neither emoji fonts are not working in illustrator 2018. Nothing shows up. The glyphs panel is blank.

Is this just my computer or have others seen this problem.

Don't select any existing letters. Just create a text object and put the cursor into it. Then open the Glyphs panel, select an Emoji font and then double click an emoji symbol

If you have changed the font to emoji font after creating text object then you have to delete the text that is there in the text box. To avoid this you can first select the font and then create text object.

Also make sure in the glyph panel you have Show drop down set to entire font.
