I'm trying to use Enhanced Text to Vector Image but I want to start with an imported image. I have an image that I want illustrator to modify using AI.

Generative fill sort of does that, but probably not in the way you expect.

Currently, there is no option to edit images using text-to-vector in Illustrator. Since images are raster files, Illustrator can only edit vector formats. However, you can use images as a reference to create artwork with Text to Vector. More details are shared here.

 

But if you share a screenshot of what you're trying to achieve, as Monika mentioned, we can suggest a few other creative methods.
