Entire background around artboard turned white

One of my document's background has turned entirely white around the artboard and I can't figure out how to fix it. The only thing I've found is that pressing cmd/shift/D changes it transparent.

Hi! You may be in contour viewing mode, you can turn Ctrl+Y on or off

    And it's just this one document?

    You created it or someone else?

    Can you check out File > Document setup and there check the transparency grid settings.

    No that doesn't fix it.
