What OS and exactly where are you seeing this? Lnks , docoumwnt info, bridge, in the OS? This is the Illustrator forum, did you post in the correct forum?

Why are you using EPS, that format is outdated unsupported amd. problematic. PSD & AI & PDF are much better choices.

I am using Illustrator CC2019 PC based. I convert my logos from AI to EPS files because many of the sign makers, promotions printers and embroiderers want a vector EPS file. When I "save as" the AI file it converts it to an EPS BUT the file description when you look at the thumbnail says its a TIFF file even though it is an EPS. Confusing for my clients..

Yes the fonts have been converted to outlines. The rest is vector.

on the PC when you move the mouse over the file "in picture mode" it lists the file description as TIFF. If I have the files listed as details the files are listed as EPS. Weird.

There can be a tiff preview with the .eps for apps that don't know how to render PostSript/

Try a save without tiff preview and see what the OS is saying.
