Error -1703 trying to edit vector smart objects from Photoshop in Illustrator

I've never had an issue double-clicking to edit a vector smart object layer (pasted from Illustrator) in Photoshop until this afternoon.

I can't even find what error "-1703" is defined as online.

I'm on Monterey 12.3 and running the latest CC builds of both AI and PS. I dumped the prefs in AI, but that didn't help.

I know a couple other people were experiencing this, but couldn't find a dedicated thread, so I started one.

Hope to find a solution. This error breaks a very critical part of my workflow.
