Error on Illustrator

Hello everyone.

For a few weeks now, out of nowhere, my Adobe Illustrator 2024 has been having an issue with the cursor. When I'm working on a design and try to click to select an element, instead of selecting, it gets stuck to the cursor and drags the entire design or remains attached to the cursor until I click again. Also, since that day, the direct selection tool is not working for me. I can select it, and it shows the nodes in the design, but when I try to click on a node, instead of selecting as it normally does, the entire vector gets stuck to the cursor. I've tried various ways to solve it, including uninstalling and reinstalling AI. I've reset all AI settings, but nothing has worked. I haven't found anything similar on any internet forum. It's as if this problem is unique to me.

It was the Magnet error.

Illustrator is the only program causing issues with it. Solved it by another thread (turn off "snap windows by grabbing" in Magnet settings).

Hello @roas!

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're facing with Adobe Illustrator on your MacBook Pro. Let's try to troubleshoot the problem. Since the problem seems unique, we can attempt the following steps:

  • Safe Mode: Boot your MacBook Pro in Safe Mode and check if the issue persists. Safe Mode loads macOS with a minimal set of drivers and prevents third-party extensions from loading. This can help identify if any other software is causing conflicts with Illustrator.

  • Check for Other Software Conflicts: Certain third-party applications or utilities might interfere with Illustrator's normal behavior. Disable or uninstall any recently added applications and see if the problem persists.

I hope one of these steps helps resolve the problem.

Best,
