error saving user defined presets

I transferred all my programs to my new Computer, Windows 10, using Zinstall. All programs work fine except Illustrator. When I close it, I get two errors:--

Error saving user defined favourites

Error saving contour presets

I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it but the error is still there.

Many thanks for any suggestions

    gerver,

I believe the right order/way is to update the OS, then reinstall the applications. Was that how you did it?

It may be best to reinstall using the full three step way (otherwise strange things may linger):

    1) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences),

    2) Run the Cleaner Tool, see link below,

    3) Reinstall.

No I didn't! This morning I uninstalled it again, ran the cleaner tool, but this time I then used JV16 to remove any traces of Illustrator in the registry. Rebooted, reinstalled and it works!

    thanks for all the suggestions!

Which option should I select on the Cleaner Tool?

    thanks

Just follow the explanations in the link Jacob posted. Most likely you will need to uninstall and reinstall the complete Creative Cloud. Transferring the apps has never been a good idea.

I did that. No errors in the log file. I reinstalled illustrator and got the same error!

My new computer already had W10 installed. I used a software program to transfer all the programs across from my old computer.

If I uninstall Illustrator and then run the Cleaner Too, would this affect my other Cloud programs as they are all fine ?

    thanks

    gerver,

You may be lucky with the other Adobe applications, but it is always recommended here to perform a clean installation.

You should be able to run the Cleaner Tool for just one application, but some have reported their having to actually reinstall everything.
