error.jpg

I was working on a product catalog on an iMac, so I synced the files and decided to finish on my Windows notebook, but this error popped up and I can't open the file.

The following will show the sequence of screens that appear before the error arises:

[eu estava trabalhando em um catálogo de produtos em um iMac, então sincronizei os arquivos e resolvi terminar no meu notebook com Windows, mas esse erro apareceu e não consigo abrir o arquivo.

A seguir eu vou mostrar a sequência de telas que aparecem antes do erro surgir:]

1 - error.jpg2 - error.jpg3 - error.jpg4 - error.jpg5 - error.jpg

(i think this last PSD can be from cloud creative cloud library)

Some details:
-The files are in Google Drive folder (up to date/synced).
- Some files are in adobe library.
- Windows 10 pro
my notebook specs:

Please, someone can help me? 😞

Hi Guilherme,

Thanks for reaching out. If I get it correctly, you are getting 2 different errors while opening files. I have few suggestions which might help you:

  • For missing linked file error: Save the files in Packaged form (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/package-files.html) on Creative Cloud and access it from both the systems. This way, you can gather the files you’ve used, including fonts (except Chinese, Korean, and Japanese) and linked graphics, for easy access on multiple machines. When you package a file, you create a folder that contains the Illustrator document, any necessary fonts, linked graphics, and a package report. This report, which is saved as a text file, includes the information about the packaged files.

PS:  Illustrator does not support network or removable drives as scratch disks, or folders of file sync services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, and icloud. For more details please take a look at this help article: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/package-files.html

  • For Error "The file is not readable", please share a few more details like:
    1. Which version of Illustrator you are working on and on which version the file was originally saved?
    2. Are these files are also saved on google drive? If yes, save them on Desktop and check how it works?
    3. Is the issue related to a specific document? If yes, could you please share the document with us? You can upload it to the creative cloud and share the download link.

Regards,

Srishti

Don't use network-based folders with AI and never. never, never work directly from a permanently syncing source like Google Drive. Aside from the fact that AI until this day hasn't learned to correctly deal with network file handling, the simple reason your files won't open is a) the cahced/ hashed file names from the sync are different from the actual files used and b) incomplete transfers may result in truncated/ damaged files. If at all, only sync your files after you have done your stuff based on local work folders by moving the folder/ packaged files into the synced one once you're done.
