ESC key not working on illustrator

Escape key is not working from isolation mode and exiting from the text box.

It is not a physical problem with the key, I checked with the keyboard viewer + key works fine on Photoshop & Indesign + works on illustrator pop-up panels such as the rotate panel.

Also tried changing Preference>General>Keyboard Increments but didn't work.

My adobe preference had always kept Creative Cloud up to date, so I'm guessing it's a new bug within a system. It worked fine before this week or last week.

Anybody else having this issue? Using M1 Macbook pro.

We are sorry for the trouble. We are unable to replicate this behavior at our end.
Would you mind updating to v27.2 and seeing if that helps? If not, would you mind resetting your preferences as suggested by Kevin and try running the app in safe mode to see if the same behavior happens there as well or not?

Illustrator 27.1.1 on a Macbook Pro M1: Esc works in both situations you describe. Using Monterey
