Expand is not working in my illustrator
Im trying to do school work. Im working on app icons and when I decrease the size of the vector after I expanded it turns into a circle. Why is that happening? Im using illustrator 2020

You are probably have the area in the transform panel off. If you want to maintain the same shape, and make it smaller or bigger when you transform you have ot turn on:
