Question

Export for Screens causing Illustrator to stop responding, only exports temp files

I have a new work computer on which I have installed Illustrator v22 and other creative cloud apps.

In Illustrator, when I try to use the Export for Screens feature, the program will show the export progress, but it always freezes after the final artboard is "exported" (it only makes temp files in the destination folder). I have to use the task manager to close illustrator. The only option I have now to export PNGs or even JPEGs is the Save for Web legacy option, which works but is much slower (especially for multiple artboards).

Has anyone encountered this problem before, or know of a fix/workaround? I have already cleared the preferences, reinstalled, and the problem persists.

Thanks!

    Hi Mike,

We are very sorry for the inconvenience. Did you try resetting preferences for Illustrator? If not, please try these steps and share results:

    Close all Adobe applications.

    Go to Locations C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe and.

Delete or rename  Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 22 Settings folders.

Launch Illustrator from the creative cloud

    Regards,

I tried this process again following these steps, but unfortunately it did not fix the issue.

    Which system?

Exactly where do you save the files?

Is it version 22 or 22.1?

It's a Windows 7 Enterprise system, saving them either on my Desktop or to a network drive gets the same results.

    Version 22.1

    Hi Mike,

Please confirm that your system has service pack 1. With Windows 7 service pack is required to run latest CC applications. (Check system information)

If yes, then please try uninstalling and reinstalling Illustrator.

    Hope it helps!

    Regards,
