Question

Export not respecting rotated view

If I rotate the view (new feature) this is not respected when I export to jpeg or pdf.

I'm a bit confused why this isn't working since this is surely one of the main ideas of rotating the artboard.

Thanks

The main idea of rotating the artboard is to be able to more comfortably edit it.

If you want to rotate the artwork, use the rotate tool or the bounding box.

I haven't so far found any javascript that rotates the artwork via 180 degrees and doesn't mangle the objects.  This is the closest I've seen but doesn't work well for me https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/92150/how-to-rotate-all-items-as-a-group-in-a-script-illustrator

i.e. I want a script to do ctrl - A, then rotate (tool) everything through 180 degrees - so just like the rotate view but then allows me to export.in the new orientation.

Why is this important - needed for a laser cutting jig which prints part of the work upside down but I can't send upside down artwork to customers for approval!

Any other ideas or links to a script would be great, thanks

mangle?

how are you rotating your work with the rotate tool

upside down? do you have to flip it as well?

Hi

It works if I 'select all' and use the rotate tool.

But I need a script that will do this. e.g. for 4 text boxes, a few free form pen traces.  The objects need to keep their relative orientations to each other, no flip.  So exactly like the rotate artboard tool but which also allows export.

I used the word mangle when all the objects got jumbled on the artboard by the linked script (ie. not in the same relative orientations to each other)

Thanks
