Exporting as Enhanced Metafile

I am trying to export an image that has a clipping mask applied to it. I want to export as an enhanced metafile, and I only want what is on the artboard exported. If it was a JPEG I could just check 'use artboards', however that option is greyed out when exporting as an enhanced metafile. Is there any other way I can export just the artboard as an enhanced metafile?

I would suggest drawing a rectangle that is the same size as your artboard, then mask everything in it that hangs outside the edge of the artboard.
