I can't seem to successfully export a DXF file to Silhouette Studio. I'm currently using Illustrator CC.

Can someone help?

Thank you!

I think I see the problem. Your file is DWG and Silhouette Studio wants DWF. Opening your file in Illustrator and exporting as DWF seemed to fix things.

It did take a long time to open your file in Silhouette Studio

Silhouette is now selling a plug-in ($39.99) to allow the user to directly print from Adobe Illustrator which should avoid reworking in Silhouette Studio. I am trying to install the plug-in now, but I use Creative Cloud and I'm hoping that the Coresynch plugin folder is the correct place to drop the Silhouette plug-in file. I'm waiting to hear back from Silhouette America on chat now.

My wife and I have a silhouette for our craft projects. It's a great little device. Through some experimenting we found a few of the export formats will import and give various quality of vector results. The SVG format, depending on what settings you use, will give you best results in our experience.

    Hi Albert,

I'm glad it's working, but can you tell us what solved the problem?

I hadn't heard of Silhouette Studio, but I was intrigued!

I gave it a go, and my Illustrator DXF export showed up ok. Are you using the Import to Library option? Can you upload your DXF file somewhere for me to try?

That's the problem, it is an export in some sort of format that cannot me shared or imported. I just tried to import it here & claimed that it was forbidden.

in order to help you, details are needed.

What exactly is in the file?

exactly how do you export it? which options?

exactly how do you import it? which options?

Exactly which error message do you receive?
