Extracting image from a scanned business card

Question

Hi, I am designing a new website, and now I am at the logo stage, which is hair pulling.  So I thought about using an old logo I used years ago, and the only evidence I had of this, was a scanned business card.  It is in jpg format.  How can I extract this logo to start enhancing and revising it??  The logo is right above some text on this business card.  Do I just use the lasso or what?  Can you tell I am new to this?    Thanks

You might be able to isolate the logo with Object > Crop Image. Michele is right, though: the image may not convert well by Image Trace. My experience with scanned business cards, very nearly 100% of them, is that the logos have to be entirely rebuilt, whether for web or print. Pen Tool.

Depending on the logo, you might be able to use Object>Image>Trace. This will give you the ability to turn the logo into a vector based image. But it depends on the quality of the image and what it is, not all images convert well into vectors. Using the lasso to select part of an image when it is a jpg. is more of a Photoshop thing. Alternatively, you can use the pen tool or other drawing tools to retrace the image and make it from scratch so to speak. If you are using it as a logo, nice clean lines will be necessary and it will probably be worth the time and effort in the long run.
