I downloaded Illustrator 2025 and deleted the 2024 version, only to realise that my favourited fonts had not carried over to the new version. I tried to redownload the 2024 version but could not find it. Does anyone know how I can restore my favourited fonts? I had spent a lot of time curating them and I would be upset to lose all that effort.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Just to add to this, I managed to download the old version of Illustrator yet my favourited fonts are still missing.

Illustrator does not longer support PostScript T1 fonts. So if those are PS fonts, then that is over.
You can no longer get a version of Illustrator that supports those fonts.

To clarify, it was not just PS fonts, it was all my favourited fonts. Plenty of them are still available on Adobe Fonts and I can see them in Illustrator, but they have all been removed from "Favourites"

THose favourites should be in the preferences file. If you reset the preferences, then favourites will be gone.

Thanks for your response Monika. That definitely seems like a possibility, I have not manually reset my preferences recently, but perhaps when updating it reset them. It seems strange that resetting the preferences would delete all the favourited fonts. Many of the issues you run into in the forums people say to reset your preferences, so it would be a shame to delete all favourited fonts every time you need to troubleshoot an issue. I think it would make more sense for the data on favourited fonts to be stored in the cloud and then it could also be synced across other Adobe apps. I always found it frustrating that favourited fonts were not universal across the CC suite.
Do you know if there is any way to avoid all favourited fonts being deleted every time preferences are reset? Is there a way to have the fonts favourited across all Adobe apps rather than individually favouriting them in all? Thanks again for your help so far.

There can be more than 1 user working on the same computer, so it cannot be an application based setting. It must be somewhere in the user set preferences.

Thanks for the explanation, but surely there must be a way to improve this. It’d be so much better if font favourites were synced across apps via Creative Cloud, similar to how libraries work. Then users wouldn’t have to redo everything every time preferences are reset, or when switching between apps. Even a centralised spot in the Creative Cloud desktop app for managing favourites would help a lot. Do you know if there are any plans for Adobe to make this process easier and more consistent across the suite? I would post it in the suggested features but I know that that is basically just screaming into the void, as they never acknowledge or respond even to suggestions with thousands of upvotes.

Thanks for your time, Monika. I really appreciate the help from dedicated users like you, especially when Adobe support is practically non existent. I get better support experiences from free softwares. Adobe is a costly subscription, and it’s disappointing that basic usability issues like this are so easily dismissed. I already mentioned that feature requests are always completely ignored, so there is no point of posting it in the feature requests.
Also, I’m not sure how this was marked as a “correct answer,” as the issue isn’t resolved. Updating Illustrator unintentionally reset my preferences and erased all my favourited fonts, and there’s been no solution offered to recover them or avoid this in the future. While I appreciate your effort, Adobe’s response to these kinds of issues needs serious improvement, and marking an unresolved thread as answered doesn’t help.

My original questions were, “Is there a way to restore my favourited fonts after updating to Illustrator 2025 deleted them?” and “Is there a way to avoid this happening in the future?” Neither of these has really been answered. If the answer is simply “no,” then fair enough — though it would be helpful if Adobe provided some solution for preserving favourites. But marking “Please post feature requests to https://illustrator.uservoice.com” as the correct answer feels dismissive and unhelpful.
