It seems in the most recent update, Adobe has decided it's ok to change their file naming conventions. Now, if you export a single artboard in a file with multiple artboards, the artboard name is not appended to the file name. But, if you export multiple artboards, the artboard name IS appended to the file name.
This is absurd and is going to cause so many issues. Does anyone know how to turn this "feature" off? The inconsistency is going to cause major issues in my workflow - if I export a single artboard with an update, I'll end up with a completely new file and the old file will still be there with a different name. File naming needs to be consistent, I fail to see how this is an appropriate way to handle file names.
Hi @erinniehenke,
Thanks for reaching out. I would like to inform you this is an intended change in the latest version of Illustrator to accommodate the request on this UserVoice (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-feature-requests/suggestions/31723057-wh...).
The workaround is to rename the file name while exporting a specific artboard.
However, If you do not like this change, you may upvote this UserVoice (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/45508540-name-a...
