File opens with blank artboards and empty layers panel

I have been working on a file for the past few days. After sending to a client I recieved feedback that all layers and artboards are blank. Upon opening the file again, this seems to be true. The strange thing is the artboard previews show up in the recent files dialog, and the file itself is still 450mb in size.

I would appreciate if anyone can help me solve this issue please!

Hi @srllsm,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're facing with your file. I tried recovering the file, but unfortunately, I encountered an error message stating, "Illustrator could partially read this file." This message usually indicates that the file was not saved/ copied/ downloaded, or uploaded properly, resulting in some corruption in the raw data of the AI file. I'm afraid that in this case, the file is beyond recovery. I understand how frustrating this can be, and I recommend double-checking your file-saving process in the future to prevent such issues. If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know.

Best,

Have you tried saving the Illustrator file with

"Create PDF compatiable file" checked?

(First check box line under OPTIONS when saving)

At the current state this should not be tried as a solution of the problem.

This can be done when the file is fully and correctly opened with all the content.

But when you cannot correctly open the file, then also do not save it, because that will cement the issue.
