File size to big

Community Beginner ,
Feb 22, 2024 Feb 22, 2024

Helllo,

I have designed a picture that is going up as a advertisment for my company on a web newsletter site. They need the file to be maximum 100kb and in JPG or PNG format. I have tried to expoert the ai file into both JPG and PNG but once i reach 100 kb the quality is so bad that the picture is not readable.

Is there anything I can do to make the quality stay, while having a 100kb PNG og JPG file?

Do you have objects extending off the artboard area? Are you selecting 'Use Artboards' in the file browser window when exporting?

100 Kb should be perfectly achievieable at that size. Can you show your file? What export settings are you using, and what file size is an acceptable quality image for you?

Your design is too small to be readable with those pixel dimensions. You need to redesign it with larger text.

i now got it down to 107kb, but as you can see the logo to the left is very pixelated around the edges. The rest of the picture is now fine and readble. Do you have any tips on how I can make it so that the logo also is clear? The dimensions also changed for some reason and it is now 671x522 accoring to the file information

I used these settings:

Use 72 PPI, not 150, to maintain the dimensions.

Is the logo comprised of vector objects created in Illustrator, or something else?

I tried that now and then I have the correct dimensions but the image is still out of focus, so I think the overall design as you said is not working with these dimentions. Yes the logo is comprised of vector obejcts created in illustrator.

It might be helpful for you to design with View > Pixel Preview on so you can get an idea how your design will look when exported. There's only so much you can do with very small pixel images.

Thank you so much pixel view helped a lot, but i am still having some issues with the dimensions changing, even tho I choose 72 ppi. I can't have the quality any lower because then it becomes blurry again. Do you have any tips?

Here are the settings:

my artboard is the same size as the pixel requirements, 320x250. I am not sure if that is the correct way of doing it, but I am very new at using illustratur so i just assumed i needed to have the artborad the same size

Once i export the file to JPG they change to 325x255 even tho i chose 72 ppi. I know it's not a big change but it would be nice to know how I can avoit it if possible.
