File won’t save with text

Hi guys, I have illustrator file which I’m having trouble saving. When I insert text the file won’t save saying there’s an unknown error. I’ve tried rasterising the text but that doesn’t seem to work either. This is on CS6.

Which file type are you trying to save?

Which system is it?

Where are you trying to save? If not on your local harddisk, try that. Don't save to a synchronized folder.

It's .ai on Mac and I'm saving over the original. I had only images and vectors when I initially saved the file, but when I try save after adding text I get the "an unknown error occcured" message. It's saved in my documents, and I have tried saving it as a different type, in a different place but still no luck

So it works when you save with a new name?

 

Can you try and uncheck "Save in background" in the preferences?
