Question

Files names truncated to 31 characters for Macintosh compatibility

I did a search but the 2021 answer was no longer valid since the previously working options are no longer available. I'm currently getting the error:

* Some names of the files being saved will be runcated to 31 characters for compatibility with Macintosh browswers. To change your filename compatibility options, click the Optimize pop-up menu, choose Edit Output Settings, and select Saving Files.

When I clicked on the pop-up menu, edit output settings is no longer an option. I've tried the help to search for output or optimize and nothing is showing up with these options. This is a new error I'm seeing, as I didn't have this issue yesterday. I'm not sure if I had an auto update at this time.

Screen shots attached.

Those are Photoshop settings, which is why you can't find them in Illustrator. What I don't understand is how you managed to induce this message in Illustrator at all. I can only see it in Photoshop.

Hello @jackid41685551,

Sorry to hear about this experience. Would you mind trying to save it to a different folder location, like the desktop, or saving it as a Cloud Document to check if it helps?

If the problem persists, kindly share more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, system config (CPU/GPU/Memory), and the folder location where you are trying to save the file, so we can investigate this further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
