Find/Replace Font menu is unusable

Been searching for any topic remotely similar to my situation with Find/Replace Font menu, which has been unusable to me because of the problem.

I use relatively few fonts so I have been working around the issue for a while. Now that I have completely updated to a new MacBook Pro (Nov 2023) running latest OS (and starting from a clean slate instead of porting over from my previous system) it is time to solve this situation! Has anyone seen their Find/Replace Font menu look like this screen shot:

 
Sometimes I get really strange bitmapped noise in the menu, sometimes I get blank spaces in the menu (like the upper section in this image) and sometimes I get jumbled mess of characters (like the lower section of this image). In any situation, this tool is unusable and I cannot figure out what is screwed up. Any suggestions?
