Enthusiast ,

Hi,

InDesign, there is Fit Frame to Content

Is there any tool to fit frame to a text box in Ai?

Open the Area text options and turn on that option to fit frame to content

Or double click that widget dangling at the bottom of the text frame.

There is an option in Preference:

“Auto Size New Area Type” is a feature in Adobe Illustrator that automatically resizes the area type container when you add more text than it can hold. May be you are asking about that?

I've just found out; Auto Size New Area Type is on, while Auto Size is off.

You can turn it on for all new objects. And to fix the existing text frame, just turn it on for that frame.

They aren't the same. One is a global setting, the other one is for the selected text frame.
