Font are thicker when vectorized ?

Hello,

When i vectorized my fonts, they became thicker.

i don't understand why.

If i overlap the vectorized and normal version they are similar but when i zoom out the vectorized seems to be thicker. And it's confirmed when i print them the vetorized one is also thicker.

If someone have an answer, thanks.

By vectorized you mean an Outlined font?

Than Jacob is right, by outlining a font it loses the hinting.

So don't outline a font when printing on low res devices.

Yes i mean "outlined". "Vectorized" is a bad translation from French.

I understand your answer but the website of the printer ask to outline font before make the pdf and send them.

On a professional printer there will be no problem or i have to do something else ?

I don't know what you mean by a professional printer.

If it is a high resolution device 1200 ppi or higher, you will not see the difference between an outlined font and a non outlined font.

Desktop Printers have a lower resolution, which is where the hinting makes a difference.

Actually it is better not to outline the font. There is also no need to outline them since the font will be embedded in the PDF and the embedded font will be used for printing.
