I freelance graphic design and design challenge coins. My issue comes when I export the designs as PSD files on an iPad. The text I have around the rings will change slightly to how I have it in the design. And I mean very subtle changes. The top ring of text will expand slightly and the bottom ring of text will compress slightly.
I have these fonts downloaded, so it shouldn't be an issue. In desperate need of help.

So you are working on the iPad version?
Please show the artwork. Before and after export
Do you have strokes applied?

Yes, I'm on the iPad version only. Left design is the PNG file how I want it. On the right is the PSD file. You can see it slightly expands the upper ring of text and slightly compresses the bottom ring of text.

Is that live text in the PSD file?

Not sure what live text is. It's just regular text I added in with zero effects.

When you open that PSD in Photoshop, can you then edit the text?

Negative. Photoshop says "pathed or curved text edit is not yet supported."

So you open it in Photoshop on the iPad?
Looks like the text actually is live text (what PS on the iPad does not support). Live text and text as pixels are rendered differently, what would explain the difference you are seeing.

So what is live text? Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?

If the PNG is OK; why don't you use it?
You could outline the text and see if that helps. But I would only do that with a copy of the file. Also that might possibly save the outlined text as shape layers in the PSD. WHich will then make it appear different as well.

I have to send the artwork as PSD so the guy who does the challenge coin setup can move the layers around.

Then you can try and outline the text and then export as PSD.
It probably does not make the result better. You can only try.

It actually does work! So thank you!
However, I shouldn't have to do that. Super annoying.

Most people are happy when their editable text gets preserved on export.
