Fonts not saving

Any time I select a new font, or start typing, the font switches back to the first font I was typing in. This means every time I type a character, anywhere, it doesn't save what the new font should be? What's causing this?

I've done some digging on this and I saw someone posted this:

"Workaround
In the Preferences menu, go to Type > Enable Missing Glyph Protection and turn it OFF."

This seems to have worked for me in the meantime - apparently it's a big bug right now.

I'm experiencing exact same issue and is very frustrating!! I thought I was going insane but glad to find out this is a known issue... Hopefully Adobe will fix this bug quickly.

it's the same here, a quick fix would be nice as it's really infuriating
