Freezes when using 'Type'/Type on path pull down menu

I'm currently using AI (26-0.1) on Windows 10 .

When putting text on a path (with text on path tool), I attempt to go to the 'Type' pull down menu. When clicking on it, it instantly freezes when clicking on it . Takes a good 10-15 seconds to recover or un-freeze afterward.

 

Hope that doesn't sound to confusing.

Sorry about the trouble. I would request you to share a few more details like:

  • Is the happening while working on a specific document?
  • Could you please share a sample document with us in which you are facing this issue? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link here.
  • When did this start happening?
  • Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, plugins, or web extensions installed recently.

 

Also, in addition to @Omar.Fathy suggestion, you may try resetting Illustrator Preferences (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html) and share your observation with us.
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

Anshul,

 Sample file has been shared, but my issue persisits for any and all new or existing files I use. It only happens when I hover over the 'Type' pull down menu, whether I need the 'type on path' or not. Preferences have been reset, but issue persists (freezes-wheel spins for a good 1-2 minutes).

 All plugins and 3rd party add ons have been updated as well. Astute Graphics, CCleaner, Malwarebytes, Webroot, Windows 10. Preferences have also been rest.

 

...very puzzling indeed.

As mentioned before, it is not a particular file I am working here that causes the issue. Here are some examples of the steps I go through.

1) I launch Adobe Illustrator (Windows 10 - ver 26.0.3)

2) With a new document in view, I hover over the top toolbar (File, Edit Object,Type, etc.)

3) Once my cursor hovers over the 'Type' pull down menu, AI instantly freezes and bogs down for a good 30 -45 seconds.

4) I'm currently using 'Suitcase Fusion' (ver 22.0.1.10233)

5) Other plugins/softwares...'Malwarebytes', 'CCleaner', 'Astute Manager/Graphics'.

6) Video Driver NVIDIA Studio Driver Ver 511.65  (release date 02-01/2022

Let Suitcase check all your fonts for corruption. Then check if your version of Suitcase is compatible to your system and your version of Illustrator. Maybe there's a nupdate available
