I have this problem. All elements are grouped- So technically if i made a gaussian blur ugly edges should be on the edges of the box, why there is this line inside a group, inside a letter, on the edges of letter and on the star. Ungrouping is kinda solving it- gaussian blur is working normally, but it does not gives me answer why. BTW gaussian blur is working fine with other grouped object, there is problem only with this.

I don't understand you issue (is it the color that you don't like)?

Also: please post the object hierarchy. Screenshot of the contents in the layers panel. And where exactly the effect is applied.

magudalena,

Gaussian Blur is applied to each path/object in the Group, regardless of the Grouping (and the same applies if you turn all the paths into a Compound Path).

If you wish to have the gaussian blur applied to the edges of the Bounding Box, you will have to create an object/path with the shape of the Bounding Box.

Smart Guides being your friends, and working without the Gaussian Blur, you can select the Group, then ClickDrag with the Rectangle Tool to reach key Anchor Points on different paths/objects, then deselect and ClickDrag individual sides with the Direct Selection Tool to reach the remaining key Anchor Points.

Then you can apply the Gaussian Blur.

Go to Effect menu, select "Document Raster Effects Settings". Under the Options menu, what is entered in the "Add" field? You could possibly increase the size in the "Add" field, such as Add: 1 inch Around Object, which might eliminate the hard edge on your guassian blur effect.
