Generative Vectors in 2025 Crashing

I have an AMD build with dedicated Nvidia graphics card and latest everything (including windows OS). After the last update, everytime I write a prompt and submit the process will start running then my computer just resets. No error message or blue screen. The generative feature was working fine in the last release. But now I cannot use any of the ai in illustrator now.

Same thing happens on my MacMini 2018 i7. Crashes every time I try to generate vector or anything else related to ai generator. I have Vega64 egpu and 64GB RAM.

Hello @Mirche05,

I understand how frustrating it can be to encounter crashes in the middle of work. Would you mind confirming the version of the OS/Illustrator installed and if there are any specific steps to recreate this problem?

Also, try the suggestions shared in this help article (https://adobe.ly/3Vi0Sm6) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

First, I would suggest downloading and installing the latest NVidia Studio driver for your graphics card. The newest driver, version 566.14, was released Tuesday this week. These driver updates don't often get pushed to computer users. You often have to open the NVidia app (or older GeForce Experience app) to manually check for updates.

One new option (when installing the NVidia app to replace the GeForce Experience app) is the NVidia overlay. For now, I have that disabled until I know for sure it doesn't mess with any settings or shortcuts in Adobe's applications. I've already had it up past my eyebrows with Microsoft's awful Windows Ink and what it does to ruin the functions of a Wacom tablet.

Hello @dinag78962954,

I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue with Illustrator. Let’s try a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

  1. Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure you have the latest Nvidia Studio driver installed for your graphics card. Sometimes, these updates are not automatically pushed, so you may need to manually check for updates using the Nvidia app.

  2. Clean Reinstallation of GPU Drivers: Perform a clean reinstallation of your GPU drivers. This can help resolve any conflicts or corrupted files that might be causing the crashes.

  3. Set Graphics Preference: Set the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator. This can be done through your system’s graphics settings.

  4. Reset Illustrator Preferences: Try resetting Illustrator preferences to their default settings. This can often resolve unexpected behavior.

  5. Check for Other Issues: Determine if the issue occurs only with the generative AI feature or if it happens in other scenarios as well. This can help narrow down the cause.

Could you please let me know if you’ve already tried any of these steps? Additionally, it would be helpful to know your system specifications, OS/Illustrator version and any error messages or behaviors you observe when the crash occurs. If possible, a screen recording of the exact workflow and problem would be very useful.

Looking forward to your response.

How is your color management set up?

Did you check for an updated driver for the graphic card?

Did you already try and reset the Illustrator preferences?

Does that also happen on other occasions or just with the generative AI?

Hello @Phenomenon010,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I hope Monika's suggestions helped resolve the problem. If not, kindly try performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and set the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/4evRPov) to check if it helps.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
