Get "Content aware image trace" tool into AI

I was very confused that this tool in Photoshop isn't already part of Illustrator.
Sometimes there is no need for me to trace the whole image and I need only part of it - just one path or object. It's far easier to select only this in that case instead of goint throug a full trace and deleting everything else after.
Sure, I can copy paste paths from Photoshop as a workaround, but having this tool also in Illustrator would be a nice addition for targeted tracing.

Thanks for reaching out! It seems like you want to edit image colors without tracing them in Illustrator. Since Illustrator is a vector editing tool, it doesn't support direct image editing, regardless of the Content Aware option.
Could you share more details about your workflow in relation to vector editing? I’d be happy to pass it along to the team. Additionally, I recommend sharing this on our UserVoice page so we can explore it further.

Thans for your quick response.
I don't want to do anything with color, nor do I want to edit the image. I just want to get a specific path.
The tool in Photoshop bahaves like this: You hover over a closed path, it gets highlighted, you click on it and get this one path/object (not everything on the image/the entire like the tracing in Illustrator which traces the whole image).
This is all I wanted to do. Kind of "selective tracing".
If you need further clarification I can add an image but basically I just want to do the same that this tool does in Photoshop, just in Illustrator. This shouldn't be so complicated as you are already able to import pixel images in Illustrator and the tool itself produces a vector path, so it is a vector based and not a pixel based tool.
PS: There is still a user voice for Illustrator? I thought bug reports and feature requests would be collected here? Mostly I work with Premiere - that's where the thought came from.
Greetings,
Robert

Hello @BibbidiBobbidiBob,
Illustrator currently lacks this functionality. Would you mind creating a UserVoice for this feature request (https://adobe.ly/4hRXyXn) and adding your comments there? Doing this will help us prioritize this request, and you will be notified of any updates.
Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.
