I have Illustrator CC - 2018 running on Windows 10-64 bit. I want to remove overlapping "X" when pasting any image into Illustrator ? Of course, I can embed the image but I want to keep the images linked and don't want any overlapping "x" on my images. They are extremely annyoing whenever I'm moving my images within the document.

With this X you can tell embedded and linked images apart.

i know this. I'd rather check in the links panel about an image being embedded or not. I like InDesign's way of not adding annoying Xs on the images. Neat and clean. I'd like that here too.
